Ispirata alle Marching
Bands neroamericane che si esibivano
all’inizio del secolo a New Orleans nelle
occasioni più disparate, dalla parata al
carnevale, la Sound Street Band ha posto
accanto alla rilettura di brani legati alla
tradizione del jazz, come Hello Dolly o
Basin Street Blues, l’appropriazione delle
forme moderne della musica neroamericana (rhythm’n
blues, funky…). Attiva dal 1992, nel ’99 ha
inciso il cd “Marchin’ the blues”, ha
partecipato a vari festival ed a sfilate
importanti come il Carnevale di Viareggio,
On The Road Festival, Green Fest, sempre
riscuotendo notevole successo.
Inspired by the black
American Marching Bands who appeared at the
beginning of the century in New Orleans in
the most varied occasions from the parade to
the carnival, the Sound Street Band
reinterpreted the songs tied to the
tradition of Jazz, like Hello Dolly or Basin
Street Blues, and transformed them into
modern forms of black American music (rhythm’n
Blues, funky…). After being active since
1992, in 1999 they recorded the cd “Marchin’
the Blues”, and participated in various
festivals and parades as important as the
Carnival of Viareggio, On the Road Festival
and Green Fest still enjoying considerable
success.

Musica balkanica, brani
originali ed altri della tradizione
italiana. Il loro primo spettacolo “100%
ZINGHERI”, diviene presto una firma, un modo
di essere che va oltre lo spettacolo, ma è
con “Balkanic
Music From Maremma” che la Zastava conquista
totalmente il pubblico di tutta Italia: un
mix di musica, arte di strada,
improvvisazioni comiche e un incandescente
finale fiammeggiante.
Balkan music, original
pieces and songs from the Italian
traditional repertoire. Their first show
“100% ZINGHERI” becomes soon a model, a way
of being that moves beyond the show. Then,
with “Balkanic Music from Maremma”, the
Zastava Orkestar gets famous all over Italy:
a mix of music, street art, comic
improvisation and a flamboyant surprise
ending.

BIG DADDY WILSON

Big Daddy Wilson (percussioni/voce),
Roberto Morbioli (chitarra), Paolo
Legramandi (basso).
Big Daddy Wilson è nato cinquant’anni fa in
un piccolo paese chiamato Edenton, Carolina
del Nord, da una famiglia molto povera.
Cresciuto in campagna, ha lavorato nelle
piantagioni di cotone e tabacco. Il giovane
Wilson lasciò la scuola all’età di sedici
anni, e poco tempo dopo si arruolò
nell’esercito degli Stati Uniti. Tramite
l’esercito è arrivato in Germania dove si è
sposato e si è stabilito definitivamente. In
Germania è venuto in contatto con la musica
blues e ha ritrovato la “parte di sé” che
ancora gli mancava. Questa “scoperta” ha
impresso una svolta alla sua vita: il
ragazzo timido, che aveva scritto alcune
poesie e cantava il gospel nella chiesetta
del suo paese, ha iniziato a comporre
melodie. Il suo grande talento viene notato
e, dopo varie collaborazioni, è avvenuto il
suo debutto discografico con l’album “Love
Is The Key” (RUF Records). Big Daddy Wilson
privilegia le piccole formazioni, al fine di
riportare la musica alle origini, usando
esclusivamente strumenti acustici. Per
l’occasione, lo accompagnano sul palco i due
“veterani” Roberto Morbioli (chitarra) e
Paolo Legramandi (basso).
Big Daddy Wilson was born into a very poor
family 50 years ago in the small town of
Edenton, North Carolina. He was raised in
the countryside and worked on tobacco and
cotton plantations there. Having left school
at 16, he enrolled in the United States Army
and was sent to Germany where he remained:
married and created a life for him and his
family. In Germany, he was introduced to
blues and “found a piece of himself” there
that seemed to have been missing. This “discovery”
had an important impact on his life: the shy
boy that had written some poems and sang
gospel in the little church of his town
began to compose melodies. Soon his talent
was recognized, and after various song and
album collaborations, his solo album “Love
is the Key” (RUF Records) came out. Songs
like “Keep Your Faith In Jah“, “Jazzy Rose“,
“Hard Days Work”, “Dreaming”, “Ain´t No
Slave“ etc. were finally given voice. His
talent was brought to the fore touching
music at its origins, using exclusively
acoustic instruments. Regarding his European
tour... he says, “That’s a dream, but one
that makes me nervous.” The Father of three
laughs, too. It is clear that his shyness is
gone and there is no homesickness. On this
occasion, he will be accompanied by music
veterans, Roberto Morbioli (guitar) e Paolo
Legramandi (bass guitar). |

MAURO OTTOLINI SOUSAPHONIX "BIX FACTOR"
Il concerto del musicista veronese e del suo
ensemble Sousaphonix è dedicato alla musica
degli anni ‘20 e ’30, incisa anche in un
doppio cd, prodotto dall’Auditorium Parco
della Musica di Roma. E’ la colonna sonora
di un racconto fantastico che ha come
protagonisti personaggi dell’epoca che
rivivono in musicisti di oggi. Le parole del
racconto e la musica si fondono in questo
progetto unico nel panorama del jazz: un
film in musica e parole o “film invisibile”
che fa vivere all’ascoltatore un vero e
proprio viaggio nel tempo immergendolo in
un’avventura che inizia con una terribile
epidemia che minaccia il mondo di oggi. Solo
un manipolo di musicisti riuscirà a
salvarlo… Molti dei brani in scaletta non
erano mai stati incisi in Italia e sono
eseguiti, secondo la sensibilità di oggi, da
un nutrito gruppo di musicisti di grande
talento. La band si esibirà in doppia veste:
nel pomeriggio sfilerà per le vie del centro
storico, come le tradizionali marching band;
la sera accompagnerà una serie di
videoproiezioni (frammenti di film muti, di
vecchi cartoni animati e di altro materiale
appositamente prodotto), tutte rigorosamente
in bianco e nero.
The performance of “Sousaphonix”, musicians
from Verona, an ensemble dedicated to the
music of the 20s and 30s, is also available
on a double CD, produced at the Auditorium
Parco della Musica of Rome. The soundtrack
is a fantastic story where personalities of
the music world of today perform. This
unique project, a jazz panorama of words and
music, creates an “invisible film” that
sends the listener on a true voyage in time
… an adventure that begins with a pandemic
threat that menaces the world. Only a
handful of very successful musicians can
save the world. Many pieces, were never
before recorded in Italy and are played
according to today’s musical tastes by a
flourishing group of musicians of great
talent. The band will perform on two stages:
in the afternoon throughout the streets of
the historic center and in the evening as
the live soundtrack for a “collage” of
silent film clips, old cartoons and other
videos created expressly for the occasion…
all in black and white. |

“Acoustic
Fusion” è il disco di debutto di Diego
Perugini. Non è il solito disco del solito
chitarrista virtuoso: è una colonna sonora,
un viaggio, passione per la musica.
Acoustic Fusion
è presentato in concerto da una band
composta da Diego Perugini, Alessandro
Cristofori, Guido Pietrella e Gianluca
Meconcelli (insieme da venti anni!) e dai
due fiati Mirco Rubegni e Luca Ravagni, che
arricchiscono la formazione, mettendo le
proprie raffinate capacità al servizio di
questa rodata macchina da groove. Gli
arrangiamenti hanno subito modifiche in
funzione della sonorità sviluppata durante
le prove tenendo sempre in mente la natura e
il significato di ogni pezzo. Il fine è
quello di catapultare il pubblico dentro ad
una colonna sonora per un film che ognuno si
dovrà sceneggiare, un film unico ed intimo
che galleggia su onde sonore.

Perugini. It is not the usual recording of a
solo guitarist…a soundtrack… a voyage… a
show of passion for music. “Acoustic Fusion”
is presented in concert by a band with Diego
Perugini, Alessandro Cristofori, Guido
Pietrella and Gianluca Meconcelli (together
for the past 20 years!). Mirco Rubegni e
Luca Ravagni play two wind instruments that
enrich the formation and refine the
potential of this experimented groove
machine.
The arrangements have been subject to
modifications and developed with the
acoustics during rehearsals always keeping
in mind the nature and the significance of
every piece. The main objective is to
immerge the public through the soundtrack
into a film that everyone could mentally
dramatize, a unique and intimate film
experience that floats upon the sound waves. |

Il gruppo "BEYOND ROOM 14" Siena Jazz
Ensemble nasce da un'esperienza didattica
interna alla Fondazione Siena Jazz.
Lavorando su un approccio fresco e personale
al repertorio jazzistico contemporaneo, il
combo si muove fra scrittura e
improvvisazione, fra momenti di interazione
collettiva e strutture rigorose. L'impiego
di elementi espressivi di matrice
elettronica vuole essere tentativo di
allargare ancora di più lo spettro
linguistico ed espressivo a disposizione
dell'ensemble di jazz di oggi.
"BEYOND ROOM 14", is a Siena Jazz Ensemble
born through an experiment at the Siena Jazz
Foundation. Working with a fresh approach
and a personalized contemporary repertoire
of jazz, the ensemble moved between writing
and improvising and moments of collective
interaction and rigorous structure. Their
dedication to expressive elements of
electronic mix were an attempt to emphasize
the linguistic spectrum and an expression
for musical arrangements of the jazz
ensembles of today. |

Il Soul di Sheila, il Jazz di Daria, il
Blues di Martina e il Rock di Nora
confluiscono nelle Moody Blue Sisters. La
band suona blues e funky presentando un
repertorio misto di brani originali e cover
di artisti quali Steve Ray Vaughan, Susan
Tedeschi, Aretha Franklin, Etta James,
Robben Ford, Jimi Hendrix e molti altri.
Sheila’s Soul, Daria’s Jazz, Martina’s Blues
and Nora’s Rock converge magnificently on
stage during the performance of the Moody
Blues Sisters. The band presents a mixed
repertoire of original songs along with
blues and funky by artists like Steve Ray
Vaughan, Susan Tedeschi, Aretha Franklin,
Etta James, Robben Ford, Jimi Hendrix and
many others.
