La Siena Jazz Big Band nasce nel 1993 -debuttando proprio a Sarteano- come big band della Scuola Jazz dell’ “Associazione Siena Jazz” con un organico formato da professionisti, studenti della Scuola e musicisti dilettanti appassionati di musica afro-americana. Sin dall’inizio il gruppo si è dimostrato molto affiatato e dopo poco tempo, nel 1999, è stato pubblicato il primo CD, intitolato “GOP – Siena Jazz Big Band” seguito dalla registrazione del secondo CD “Abstrutions”, pubblicato nel 2003 e dal terzo CD ‘Dal Vivo’, che contiene registrazioni ‘live’ degli anni 2006 – 08, anche con gli ospiti internazionali John Ramsay, Karlheinz Miklin e Renato Chicco. La qualità esecutiva degli strumentisti della Siena Jazz Big Band, sotto la guida sicura e competente di Klaus Lessmann, grande solista del panorama jazzistico italiano ed europeo, si è evoluta in maniera costante permettendo al gruppo di inserirsi a pieno titolo fra le più qualificate orchestre jazz del territorio nazionale. Il repertorio dell'orchestra ripercorre le varie età del Jazz: dal Jazz classico di Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt o Fats Waller, passando dal Jazz degli anni ’60 (Julian 'Cannonball Adderley e Keith Jarrett) per arrivare ai brani originali composti dal bassista della Big Band Franco Fabbrini e dal direttore Klaus Lessmann.

The Siena Big Jazz Band was born in 1993 - starting off right here in Sarteano - as a big band from the Jazz School of "Siena Jazz Association" with its members a mix of professionals, students from the school and musicians passionate about afro-americasn music. Right from the beginning the group, is seen to be working well, and in 1999 the first cD was issued, entitled “GOP – Siena Jazz Big Band”, followed by the 2nd CD “Abstrutions” published in 2003 and the 3rd CD ‘Dal Vivo’which features live performances from 2006-2008, also featuring international guests such as John Ramsay, Karlheinz Miklin and Renato Chicco. The orchestra's repertory covers the different periods of jazz: classic jazz by Duke ellingotn, django reinhardt or fats waller, stopping over at Jazz of the sixties (Julian 'Cannonball Adderley e Keith Jarrett) to then get to the original pieces compsed by the bass player of the Big band Franco fabbrini and Klaiud Lessmann.
